28 Week Bumpdate

Thats right, it's bumpdate time again. 28 weeks. We've made it. We are officially on the home stretch.

I feel like I am in my first trimester again. Sick, emotional and in so much pain. I knew it was coming, but was hoping I would escape and be one of the lucky ones. Smells are, again, not my friend and I have constant headaches/dizziness.

All the bad stuff aside, there are so many positive things! He moves non stop. I can feel his feet when he stretches.. he's perfect already. We have most of the big things ready to go: cribs up, carseat, stroller, and a dresser full of stuff. And even better? We have a baby shower happening on Saturday. 84 days and it will officially be my due date. I cannot believe how fast it is coming. Now to finish the list of things I need to do before baby gets here. More on that later..

Healthy Living

New year, new goals.

Andrew and I came together and made a list of things we really need to focus on for our lives to be the best it can be. Bust most importantly, we needed to refocus to make everything ready for a new human named Ollie.

And whats more important than healthy eating and living? Not very much. So, we bought a treadmill, got health books && journals, and set our goals.

Being pregnant makes being healthy so much harder. All I want is chocolate. And milk. And more chocolate. And I would rather lay on my back/take a bath instead of walking every day. But no more, I say. No more.

I bought a new set of pots and pans (I'm not sure if they are from Costco or heaven), found a bunch of recipes that I thought would settle well in my stomach and went to work. Learning how to cook is something I have honestly always wanted to do. And don't get me wrong, I could make a basic burger. But I wanted to learn how to really cook. Like, get veggies and meats I had never heard of. Really expand my pallet.

So here we are. So many recipies down. So many successes. And I am learning how to cook more on my own and be creative. Since I just started the blog, I only have a couple photos. But I promise to keep updated on new finds and share my progress. It's getting real, dudes. Wish me luck.

So here we go. First food post. Chicken and gnocchi.

Christmas 2015

I didn't take many photos of our Christmas, but we did make a video. Which, how much better is that? So much better.

Nothing.

As most of you who know us are aware, Andrew spends his free time doing so many amazing things. Learning French and Spanish, focusing on health and fitness, reading an insane amount of books, researching dinosaurs, and basically becoming an expert at anything he deems interesting.

Well, you may not know that Andrew also writes books. Yes, I said books. Plural.

He wrote his first book when he was just fifteen years old, had an agent by the time he eighteen and was well on his way to even having a movie made about his work. Then the worst happened and everything fell apart.

Fear not, though. He did it again. As of January 8th, 2016, he has officially finished his second book. Nothing. Thats the name of it. "What are you reading?!" .. "Oh, Nothing." I'm not at liberty to tell you what it's about, or tell you much about it. But what I can say is it's A. Mazing. And this is my unbiased opinion and the opinion of the select few he has let read it.

Things are happening fast. Before Ollie is born we are hoping to have it all edited and query letters sent. Heck, we are hoping to have that all done in the next month. Fingers crossed.

Now he is working on his THIRD book. Can I tell you how lucky I am? So lucky. I get to read these amazing books first. And I also get to have a son with these amazing brain genes. Lucky.

Baby Name

Ladies and gentleman, we have a name!

We are in. LOVE. with this name. Oliver is a name we had landed on long before we knew we were having a boy. It doesn't come from anywhere or anyone, it just has something about it that we can't get enough of. Doesn't it just roll off the tongue? Little Ollie. Awe, my heart is already melting.

Roosevelt is a name that Andrew decided he loved while watching a documentary about the Roosevelt family. They stand for a lot of the same things our family stands for. We wanted to give him someone in history he could relate to and look up to. And all the Roosevelts are dope, so.. he has a lot to look up to. Maybe Andrew can give a better explanation of this later.. we shall see.

The name is set in stone, though, because Ang bought me an Alex and Ani bracelet with an A and an O on it for Christmas. There is no going back now.

My bump, my lovely lady bump

Here are a few more photos of the bump for good measure:

12/04/2015 - 20 weeks & 1 day
12/25/2015 - 23 weeks & 1 day
12/30/2015 - 23 weeks & 6 days
01/7/2015 - 25 weeks

Boy or Girl?

The day we have been waiting for is finally here! We FINALLY get to know if we are having a baby boy or girl!

We had our friend, Randi, make us the cutest cake pops with either pink or blue inside. We went to my mom's house and all our family was there to put in their best bets! Andrew found out what we were having at the ultrasound, but I wanted it to be a surprise. However, that didn't go as planned. Andrew was so excited he told me the second we walked out of the hospital.

My whole family (other than a few exceptions) thought we were having a girl since there were already 3 boys. Chances were we would have a girl and break the cycle... we were wrong.

Surprise! April, 2016

Guess who is having a baby?!
8/22/2015 - 6ish weeks along

In many ways, this little bun in my oven is the reason we are starting the blog. To remember small, but enormous moments in our lives like this.

Since I haven't posted many bump photos anywhere, here are the first few we have taken:

10/10/2015 - 12 weeks & 2 days

10/27/2015 - 14 weeks & 5 days

I wasn't super sick until I was about 12/13 weeks along. By then, Andrew had to fend for himself at dinner time. All I wanted was limes and smoothies. Oh, and lots of milk. So much milk that we should have bought a milk cow to save money. I could not get enough.

Also, the first 16 weeks of the pregnancy went by the slowest. I could. not. wait. to find out what we were having and to give him/her a name. I wanted IT to finally be a person I could refer to as he or she.

Heather's Job

It's official, we have a blog. I am going to back track a little here and post things that have happened over the last year... we've had some big things happen.

In April of 2015, all my hard work paid off and I got an amazing job promotion. I work for a company called Thumbtack and was promoted to System Administrator. It came with some pretty awesome perks, too. And the first perk I got to experience was an all expense paid trip to the Philippines in July.

The first three days were spent in Manilla teaching classes, getting to know our employees and exploring the big city. Here are some of the photos I took:

After this trip to Manilla was over, I took a couple days for a personal vacation to Boracay, Philippines. It took almost a day to get there. A boat ride, a plane ride and multiple bus/trike rides on sewage filled roads just to get to the hotel.

What I learned from this trip is that when you see beautiful photos of blue waters and clear skies like this one:
You always have  to remember what it takes to get there. That being said, this was the most beautiful places I have ever seen and would do it all over again. But next time, I am taking my little family.

I did so many things in this two day trip that two days was almost too much. I went snorkeling, got massages (like, two dollars for a 30 minute, beachside massage. Say whhaaa???), met up with other people from Thumbtack and also made new friends. Went cliff jumping and island hopping, and LOTS of sitting in this beautiful water. I was so busy I didn't take many photos, but enjoy the ones I did. Or, if you'd rather, here is my first attempt at a YouTube video.
